Toni Storm managed to have successful runs on both WWE NXT and NXT UK. This obviously teased of a successful stint following her main roster call-up but that wasn’t the case. She was barely booked in a meaningful way that eventually made way for the release. She actually quit the company out of frustration which also affected her mental health.
Without giving any prior notice to anyone, Toni Storm decided to leave the WWE and the company didn’t hold her back, either. She is currently working in AEW and it is clear that she is more than happy to be working, there. It’s good for the female superstar that the creative team of AEW allows her to work on TV on a regular basis which wasn’t the case in WWE.

While speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Toni Storm talked about her issues with mental health. The wrestling industry often puts so much pressure on the performers and it’s not easy to deal with those on a regular basis.

Toni Storm went through a lot since her WWE release
Besides, Toni Storm also went through another trauma after private photos of her were leaked onto the internet, which led to her leaving social media. Speaking on these situations, she’s described her departure from WWE as “an out-of-body experience” in a phase where she apparently “lost [her] mind.” The solution to getting over this zone was to take better care of herself.
“I went through a hell of an ordeal not so long ago, and it was quite the toxic, stressful situation,” Toni Storm said. “I feel like I’ve really been doing well coming out of that, better than I thought.
Really growing, really maturing, and taking really good care of myself, more than I ever have. So, I think it’s important for me to be like that so that I can deliver these matches to the best of my ability because, to be honest, there’s been times in the past where I just haven’t been in a good spot mentally, and I’ve seen it in my work.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
It was in late 2021 that Toni Storm was in the middle of a feud with Charlotte Flair over WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship when she opted to leave the company. Her final WWE match was a loss to Flair in a title match. During the interview, the current AEW Star also noted that she was in such a devastating state that she considered leaving the wrestling business forever after the end of her WWE career.
Thankfully, the bright Australian superstar was able to bounce back and start things afresh in AEW starting with this year’s March. She has become a heavily featured part of the company’s women’s division starting with the inaugural Owen Hart Cup Tournament.
