Edge cashes in on The Undertaker on Smackdown in May 2007
Edge solidified his predator-like persona with this championship win and also started his run as a pillar figure on Smackdown for years to follow. On this May 2007 episode of Smackdown, The Undertaker was already devastated after defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Batista in a Steel Cage Match. After the match, Mark Henry came out and further destroyed him in the ring.
Smelling the blood, ‘The Piranha’ Edge came out to cash in his Money in the Bank, creating an absolutely sadistic situation. It still took him two Spears to pin The Deadman and win his maiden ‘Big Gold Belt’ win. Edge became the first superstar to win both world championships in WWE by cashing in the opportunistic briefcase. Interestingly, he never was the 2007 Money in the Bank winner but rather he defeated the original winner Mr. Kennedy to get in possession of this briefcase.
