With the revamp for the WWE NXT 2.0 brand in late 2021, a chunk of former top talents have already been let go from the contract. That was recently followed by ten more releases from WWE deals. Reports also claim that more such releases could be in the pipeline and it’s only just a matter of time to seeing it happen. Amid all these, another top female talent is reportedly gone from the company.
Candice LeRae is reportedly no more associated with the WWE NXT brand. It was reported earlier this year that her contract was set to expire in 2022 spring, but obviously, WWE could possibly have extended the contract since she’s absent from TV for a long time. We haven’t seen her in months due to her time away with injuries and her first pregnancy.
Persia Pirotta Believes WWE NXT Release Will Be Positive In A Situation
At one point, it was expected that Candice LeRae would remain with the WWE NXT brand at least until early 2023. But recently, it was noted how WWE moved her to their official Alumni roster. In an update to the situation, Fightful Select has confirmed that her contract expired. That being said, she’s a free-agent starting with yesterday. Her husband Johnny Gargano is also having the same status, as of now.
Gargano and LeRae are absent from WWE NXT TV for several months
Gargano, one of the most dependable names of WWE NXT, left the company in December and has not wrestled since then. He has featured in some signings, but there’s no update yet on whether he’s signed to a bound contract and return to in-ring action on behalf of a company.
LeRae and Gargano welcomed their first child together back in February. Due to parenthood, the belief is that Gargano would take a few months off from wrestling so that he could spend time with family before returning to work. Speculations are also there that he could possibly return to WWE since the company is still interested in him.
As for Candice LeRae, she began working with WWE NXT in mid-2017. She announced her pregnancy in 2021 August of last year but she featured on TV in a non-wrestling role for several weeks. She last wrestled on July 6 at the NXT Great American Bash when she and Indi Hartwell dropped the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles to Io Shirai and Zoey Stark.
LeRae leaves the company as a former one-time WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion but she and her husband remain on good terms with the brand.
