A list of WWE NXT and WWE Performance Center staff were released, this week who were several longtime employees of the company. Since these names were integral parts of WWE’s third brand, the releases came as a major shocker for the WWE Universe as well as some of the insiders of the company.
WWE Hall of Famer “Road Dogg” Brian James was the first name revealed, along with Sarah Cummins who was working as the Senior Vice President of Consumer Products. Along with these two, long-time WWE NXT General Manager William Regal, Dave Kapoor, Ryan Katz, Scott Armstrong, George Carroll, and Christopher Guy were also released.
Fightful already reported on how these talents and staff releases familiar with the Performance Center and WWE NXT were done directly to remove numerous Triple H hires from the company. Then on his latest PWTorch Podcast, Wade Keller discussed the latest round of releases from the WWE to emphasize NXT 2.0’s current transition from the Triple H-era of the brand.
Triple H hoped his WWE NXT team to get shifted to Raw
Keller mentioned how Triple H “was building his team” which he eventually wanted to carry forward to the main roster, if and when the time will come for him to be the main name for running RAW and SmackDown.
“I’ve talked with people who had said Triple H was building his team that he would bring with him to the main roster,” Keller said. “And if his day came to run the main roster he wanted his group of people. At some point, it was thought that it would include William Regal and Gabe Sapolsky and Road Dogg and they’re gone.”
Keller continued about Triple H’s reaction to these recent cuts which were specific people hired by him. While nothing explicit was stated, it was noted that the legend is upset about the ongoing over on WWE NXT.
“NXT just isn’t what it once was,” Keller said. “I’ve heard just a little about Triple H’s reaction to all of this and nothing super reportable other than it sounds like he’s bummed out.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling News)
Triple H appeared on NBC’s Nightly News to discuss WWE’s groundbreaking NIL program but he’s not commented on the recent cuts from WWE NXT. The pro wrestling legend had undergone a recent successful surgery after suffering a cardiac event last September and he’s yet to be back in the WWE for his backstage duties.
