The animosity between Triple H and CM Punk is well-known amongst all of the professional wrestling fans. During their WWE tenure, these two used to share some legit beef that eventually led to the departure of Punk from the WWE. Despite all the speculations in the past, he never found his way back to the company, ever again.

Now Punk is a regular attendee of AEW Programming as a top superstar who gave the pro-wrestling fans to talk about his relationship with WWE during a promo segment in a recent episode of AEW Dynamite. “The only way you’ll be number one is if Tony Khan has a daughter and you marry her,” Punk said in that promo, referencing Triple H marrying Stephanie McMahon.

Prior to that, MJF also mentioned that Punk was always second best to “you can’t see me man” or the “king of kings” referring to John Cena and Triple H, respectively. Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T wasn’t a fan of the words selected by Punk, pointing out that The Game indeed was “a bigger star than CM Punk” even before he married the daughter of WWE Chairman and CEO, Vince McMahon.

Booker T supported Triple H over CM Punk comments

“It ticks me off a little bit, I’ve worked with Hunter since WCW. Hunter was a bigger star than CM Punk was before he even married Stephanie McMahon and that’s just fact,” Booker T stated on his Hall of Fame podcast. “As far as becoming a bigger star after that, of course, he was going to become a bigger star after that (marrying Stephanie), he was in the family now. Look here, if CM Punk would’ve married Stephanie McMahon, he would’ve become a bigger star, perhaps.”

Booker T also pointed out that CM Punk was a huge star in the WWE whom the company didn’t utilize the right way for some reason. But then again it wasn’t right for Punk to drag the personal life of the Triple H. The Texas-resident was open to saying that the Straight Edge Leader was just trying to “get a cheap pop” at the expense of the WWE head-honcho.

“I’ve always been willing to say to someone’s face what I wanted to get off my chest,” Booker stressed. “I’ve never wanted to go and hide somewhere and get a cheap pop talking about someone, especially someone I respect, who has done it the way we all have – entertaining fans in America and abroad, blood, sweat and tears. He (Triple H) is one of those guys who is one of the pillars of WWE, always will be.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
