Smackdown opening segment featured a verbal confrontation among the women superstars. The three names for the women’s championship stood inside the ring in a promo. Initially, this was going to be a heated segment that failed to deliver. Somehow the conversation never got into a heated point among the ladies.

Carmella was the only one to deliver some fired-up promos. But bad mic skills from Becky Lynch ruined all of those. She just can’t get over the backlogs that can give her back the Smackdown women’s championship. She even failed to deliver a good opening contest due to a number of botched moves. It was not impressive, at all. So Carmella is still the favorite to retain the title at Summerslam.

The New Day was the saver, once again. After a long time in their career, the trio is looking good as a tag team. So they should be the one to capture the Smackdown tag titles for the first time at Summerslam. There is not a better team present on the blue brand to dethrone the Bludgeon Brothers from their dominant reign.

Summerslam mixed tag team match also heated up to a big extent. Segments featuring Rusev, Lana, Almas, and Zelina are giving us entertainments on a regular basis. Last night was no different. The heel Almas defeated Aiden English in a singles contest. Thereafter, Zelina cut a sold promo only to be encountered by Lana. This might be a slow procedure to turn Rusev and Lana into babyface superstars.

Smackdown ended on a heated note despite there was no physical confrontation. Samoa Joe continued insulting AJ Styles mentioning his family. This is a cunning move by the officials to put these two veterans away for now. It would raise the expectations of the fans when they finally meet at Summerslam. We can’t wait to see them to tear each other apart for the WWE Championship.

Overall, it was an interesting conclusion for Summerslam buildup. Check out the Twitter reactions from this week’s Smackdown,
