For several months, Lola Vice has been touting herself to be the next big star on the NXT female roster and WWE must be thinking the same way. This became evident after the former MMA competitor turned out to be the winner of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament 2023 edition which dragged her one step closer to becoming a champion in the WWE.

As seen on the October 31 episode of NXT which was also subbed as the Halloween Havoc Night Two episode, Lola Vice ended up defeating Kelani Jordan to win the ongoing tournament on NXT and thereby become the promising face on the female roster. This happened via the final match of the breakout tournament that started several weeks ago.

Lola Vice won the tournament final match after she hit a huge kick to Jordan’s head for the pinfall win. Heading to the final match, she had to defeat Karmen Petrovic in the semi-finals and Dani Palmer in the round-robin league. The winner’s current tag team partner Elektra Lopez was there at the ringside to support this huge win that could be a stepping stone in her career.

Last year’s NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Winner saw the former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez emerging as the winner capitalizing on which she went on to become a tag team champion. Lola Vice also secured a title match opportunity which is yet to be announced.

Lola Vice was an MMA performer before joining the WWE

As mentioned above, Lola Vice was an MMA fighter in Bellator by her real name Valerie Loureda before signing with WWE in June 2022. When she signed with the promotion, Vice shared on social media how she was the first Cuban-American woman in history to sign with the company. Speaking in an interview with Busted Open Radio, she touted how it was difficult for her to become a pro wrestler from the MMA industry,

“It’s way harder to have to pull than learn how to give. That’s why they’re hiring so many of these young, talented athletes because they teach them the ways. But with me, I’ve had to kind of erase the psychology and learn a new one. The first time I ever took a bump, I knew that this career was for me. It’s natural to me. I’m good at it. I love the performance.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
