As per early announcements, one of the biggest attractions of this week’s WWE Raw was a title match. WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles were on the line where The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) challenged Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. The challengers had a drawback since their manager cum mentor Paige was not by their side. (She will have second neck surgery next week)

But still, the Kabuki Warriors had the upper hand during this match with their highly athletic moves. Asuka started the match landing a hip-attack on Alexa Bliss. Soon, she connected with a German Suplex on Cross as Sane followed up with the InSane Elbow. But Bliss broke the pinfall and sent Asuka straight to the ring post. Cross hit a Swinging Neckbreaker allowing Bliss to connect with the Twisted Bliss to get the pinfall win.

WWE Raw got hyped up with the announcement that Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross will defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships the night after Summerslam against a team that came very close to winning. Asuka and Kairi Sane i.e. The Kabuki Warriors are the two names concerned who are actually hunting down the titles for quite sometimes.

They came pretty close to winning, last week unless the current champions would have worked pretty well as a unit. Here’s more from WWE.com,

“The Kabuki Warriors were the runners-up in that match, and they might have been the winners if not for some well-timed chicanery on behalf of Cross, who trapped Asuka in the ring apron and distracted Kairi Sane before she could deliver her signature InSane Elbow Drop to Bliss. The interference catapulted the unlikely duo of Bliss & Cross to championship status — this is Bliss’ third distinct title in WWE and Cross’ first — but clearly, they’ll have their work cut out for them.”

However, we did not think of title changes on two back to back episodes of WWE Raw. Hence, chances of seeing Kabuki Warriors as new tag team champions were pretty less. With Paige not by their side, the scene turned out to be in favor of the champions as Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross retained their titles, as predicted.
