Goldberg returned to WWE TV on last week’s SmackDown to set up a title match with WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber. The dream match has been on hold for over two years now. Now that he’s back, WWE Universe would finally get to see this Spear vs. Spear encounter between these two superstars.
It also looks like that WWE Hall of Famer has only returned for a quick run that will end at Elimination Chamber. Despite WWE’s earlier tradition of retaining the legendary names for the bigger occasions like Wrestlemania. It appears that Goldberg won’t be added to the Biggest Event of the Year.
Lita Reveals Why She’s Wrestling In Saudi Arabia Despite Criticizing WWE About It
As per a report from Wrestling INC, WWE has added Goldberg to this Friday’s SmackDown on FOX from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The show will air, live, this week from NOLA but WWE will also tape next Friday’s Elimination Chamber go-home episode on the same night. The production needs to move out of the USA towards Saudi Arabia in time for next Saturday’s big event, after all.
WWE Smackdown: Roman Reigns Sends Warning To Legendary Goldberg
Goldberg isn’t advertised after Elimination Chamber
As per the source, this week’s double SmackDown taping and the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event from Saudi Arabia will have Goldberg on the shows. He will be there on the show, this week, and will possibly appear on next Friday’s taped go-home show. But after that, WWE does not have Goldberg advertised for any other events on The Road to WrestleMania 38.
This is a clear indication that Goldberg won’t be there for any further WWE appearances once Elimination Chamber passes by and he won’t definitely be a part of Wrestlemania 38. Perhaps, he may perform in more WWE matches but that isn’t coming, anytime soon. Also, the limited appearances confirm that the legendary name won’t dethrone Reigns from his Universal Championship reign.
Goldberg previously claimed that he had only one more match left on his WWE contract, but he also claimed to be with the WWE through 2023. The belief is that the company might just renegotiate his contract so that he can compete in more matches, down the road while his original contract will be up after the Elimination Chamber PPV match. He was supposed to wrestle only two matches per year, but last year he competed in three matches.
