After being absent from WWE television for a long time, Shane McMahon returned earlier this year only to be taken off. He was a surprise returnee for the 2022 edition of the Men’s Royal Rumble match but that also marked the end of his stint, surprisingly. His inclusion wasn’t necessarily needed in the first place while his backstage shenanigans turned out to be a big headache for the officials.
Producing a lot of demands, Shane McMahon ended up picking a substantial amount of heat upon himself. He tried to take things over for the men’s Royal Rumble match with some last-minute booking that wasn’t approved by his father Vince McMahon. The Prodigal Son reportedly wanted the match to be focused on himself while he also wanted to change entering slots of superstars like himself or Hurricane Shane Helmes.
Shane McMahon Doesn’t Share Good Rapport With Current WWE Chairman
Then multiple outlets confirmed at the time that Shane McMahon was supposed to play big roles at the Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 38 premium live events. However, he was sent home and Vince specifically wanted him to be out of the company. Being a McMahon, he was never “fired,” and he also never was an employee of the company in the first place.
Afterward, creative plans fully changed around Shane McMahon and he was put into his place on a long-term basis. His father was frustrated over the changes made around Royal Rumble and also was in no place to approve those.
Senior McMahon wasn’t happy with Shane McMahon’s behavior at Royal Rumble
According to Sean Sapp Ross on Fightful Select, it was noted how Vince McMahon was heard backstage telling others that his son “would never get another pop in this company as long as I’m around,” after how things went down around Royal Rumble 2022.
It was also added in the statement that things happened “in the heat of the moment” while also Sapp’s source believed that senior McMahon’s frustration with Shane McMahon at the time was “extreme, but justified” since he “compromised Brock Lesnar’s satisfaction” with the Rumble match and that too after he was declared as the winner. Apparently, Vince McMahon had the power to bring him back but now that he’s retired, we wonder whether he will ever make his return to the company.
In the aftermath of the sudden announcement from Vince, the situation is highly unlikely that we’ll ever be seeing Shane McMahon on WWE television. A lot of people who have worked closely with the junior McMahon “have been far more willing” to comment on the state but they’re not happy with Shane McMahon, at all.
