Ending month-long speculations, Cody Rhodes indeed came back to WWE on last night’s WrestleMania 38 Night One. He proceeded to defeat Seth Rollins in a match that appeared to be a pure outburst of emotions for himself as well as for the professional wrestling fraternity.
WWE Hall of Famers like Ric Flair and Bully Ray, Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes, brother Dustin Rhodes, AEW Superstar Ricky Starks, Matt Cordona, Paige, and many others shared their reactions to The American Nightmare’s homecoming at Wrestlemania 38.

Cody Rhodes won during Wrestlemania 38 return
As noted above, WrestleMania 38 Night One event, saw Rhodes make his return to be the opponent for Seth Rollins. Per the storyline, he was hand-picked by WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon in his return match. He got a special entrance who came out from under the stage. He was also introduced as “The American Nightmare” and received big pyros on his way to the ring.
Rhodes used the signature right hands and Bionic Elbow of the late great WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, and then the third CrossRhodes of the match for the pin to win.
Wrestlemania 38 marked WWE TV return for Rhodes who last featured in a match on May 16, 2016, when he lost to Zack Ryder at a WWE Superstars taping. Back then, he was working under the Stardust gimmick.

After parting ways with the WWE, Rhodes helped launch AEW, as a talent and the Executive Vice President of the company. But he left the brand in February after his contract expired and he could not come to terms on a new deal with AEW President Tony Khan.
During his match at Wrestlemania 38, the announcers did acknowledge how Rhodes has been away from WWE as he’s wrestled all over the world, but AEW was never mentioned on that note. Moving forward, he is expected to feature heavily on Raw brand. Following the win, a rivalry with Rollins may also unfold on the red brand.
