With Wrestlemania 39 emanating from Hollywood, there’s major speculation about The Rock’s return to the WWE for that night. The popular belief around the world of professional wrestling is that the biggest office attraction from Hollywood will be available to feature in a match, perhaps his last one in the WWE against his cousin Roman Reigns.
The Great One is rumored to go up against WWE’s Tribal Chief over Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Wrestlemania 39 in a showdown to be remembered for ages. Obviously, this could end up becoming one of the biggest WrestleMania matches of all time. But it’s also obvious that there’s no certainty around the happening of the match.
Wrestlemania 39: WWE’s Current Plan On Main Event And World Title Split
Former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz (who is also The Rock’s business associate) doesn’t believe that The Rock’s recess from filming movies in early 2023 is due to the fact that he wants to feature in a match at Wrestlemania 39. He had the following to say regarding the legendary WWE Superstar’s status during an interview with NBC Sports,
“I saw an internet report at one point saying ‘Oh The Rock’s not shooting any movies in February.’ I don’t know if he is or not but he is launching with Dany (Garcia) a gigantic football league (XFL) so that might take some time too.”

The Rock could be busy relaunching XFL prior to Wrestlemania 39
XFL is reportedly returning in February 2023 as the league recently announced its first eight teams, ahead of the draft that will take place between November 15 and 17. The Rock and Dany Garcia acquired the league from Vince McMahon in 2020 and they now have some big plans to relaunch it.
On a contradictory note, Gewirtz also reflected on the upcoming schedule of The Brahma Bull and noted that as a fan of pro-wrestling, he would really love him to make a comeback to the WWE and do something great,
“Whether or not that manifests itself in a WrestleMania main event, you know, the fan in me would love to see it if it’s the right circumstance and everything. But, I don’t know. He certainly has a lot of stuff going on between this gigantic movie coming out in October, our Tales from the Territory show.”
The Rock recently teased Wrestlemania appearance
Prior to this, The Rock recently teased the potential WrestleMania 39 showdown against Roman Reigns during an appearance at The Rundown. He claims himself to be The Head Of The Table in the Samoan Dynasty instead of Roman Reigns to indicate the upcoming feud. But no such hint is yet to arrive on WWE TV regarding the same.
