With Wrestlemania 40 almost upon us, fans are in long anticipation of seeing John Cena back in the WWE fold even if it’s for a one-off night. Given the current circumstances, the possibility of seeing him at a wrestling ring in the foreseeable future is relatively low. He was last seen on WWE programming at Crown Jewel 2023, digesting a loss to Solo Sikoa.

At present, John Cena is set to begin filming the second season of Peacemaker, and hence having a match at WrestleMania 40 won’t be possible for him due to movie insurance issues. However, an appearance is not completely out of the question, as WWE has already discussed non-risky things for him. Thus, the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion might end up appearing at the Show of Shows.

John Cena having Peacemaker commitment ahead of Wrestlemania 40

It was affirmed by the source that Cena’s commitment to his movie career will significantly impact his availability for WWE events in the foreseeable future and thus a possible appearance at Wrestlemania 40 could be ruled out.

According to the report, The Cenation Leader is set to begin filming the second season of the DC Series “The Peacemaker”, a project that will keep him busy from June through November. As mentioned above, this commitment won’t allow him to be in spots where he’d take bumps and risk injury. Word is also there that even if Cena appears at WrestleMania 40 this weekend, he won’t be seen in a physical capacity.

The first season of Peacemaker having Cena in the lead was helmed by writer-director James Gunn, and it explored the backstory of the titular character that was seen in DC’s The Suicide Squad. The success of the movie renewed the franchise with its second season which is now in the pipeline. But there are still hopes that the former franchise figure of the WWE will be seen at Wrestlemania 40.
