The first title match for WrestleMania Backlash from the SmackDown side has been confirmed, last night. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will put her title on the line for the very first time at the upcoming pay-per-view event. Her long-term rival Bayley was named as the challenger for Beliar in an official statement from WWE.
Since the name of the upcoming PPV is WrestleMania Backlash, it was believed that Sasha Banks would get a rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Title after losing the belt to Belair at WrestleMania 37. Last week, Banks featured in a backstage segment to point out how Beliar left a mark on her back via a blatant shot with the braids.

Reports also claimed that the confrontation segment between Banks and Belair was nixed from last week’s post-WrestleMania edition of SmackDown. But it was apparently slated to happen, this week to carry on the feud. But prior to SmackDown, the WrestleMania Backlash match between Bayley and Bianca Belair was announced by WWE with statements over social media and the official website.

A three-way match could be there for Wrestlemania Backlash
Bayley then bragged about the title shot mentioning that how she even didn’t have to demand it from the champion comparing the situation to Rhea Ripley who confronted Asuka before WrestleMania 37 for a title match. Later on SmackDown, she featured in a backstage segment with Beliar to taunt her a bit and re-initiate the feud between the two of them for WrestleMania Backlash.
Eventually, no Sasha Banks was there in the storyline. It will be interesting to see if she would get involved in the Bayley vs. Belair feud to make it a three-way storyline, or WWE would only keep it a singles feud. A lot of chatters were heard about how Bayley had a strong last year but then she was left off the WrestleMania 37 card. All she did was to do some brief comedy segments on both the nights of the show.
Bayley was eventually taken out by WWE Hall of Famers The Bella Twins on Night Two while Belair beat Sasha Banks in the main event of WrestleMania 37 – Night 1 from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Bayley vs Bianca Belair is the second match to be added to the WrestleMania Backlash card while the other match confirmed for the show is WWE Champion Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre for the title, in a rematch from WrestleMania 37. The upcoming PPV event takes place on Sunday, May 16, 2021, from Tampa, Florida at the Yuengling Center, which is the current ThunderDome setup of WWE. The updated card goes as follows,
