At Wrestlemania Backlash 2022, Charlotte Flair, one of the headliners of the bygone event has suffered an injury. As announced by the WWE, the former champion apparently experiences a “fracture of the radius” during her I Quit match against Ronda Rousey at the latest premium live event presented by the WWE.

As reported earlier, Flair lost her SmackDown Women’s Championship against the former UFC Hall of Famer at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. She mouthed the words, “I Quit,” after Rousey applied her armbar submission on Flair with a chair as assistance. Flair showed resistance throughout the match but that move was enough to force her to quit.

Wrestlemania Backlash 2022: Charlotte Flair’s injury is kayfabe?

Fightful Select reports that this injury is very much a storyline angle. The injury was booked to have Rousey take Flair out of storylines following Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. The reason for this is that WWE creative had been told that The Queen could be taking a little time away from TV. Because of that, the kayfabe injury angle was created to show why Flair would not be on TV on Smackdown, for a few weeks. It is unknown, at this point whether her break is going to last long, or it’s for a short timespan.

As seen during Wrestlemania Backlash 2022, Ronda initially put the armbar in and asked Flair to quit. Flair opted to say no, which infuriated the challenger as she tightened the hold, intending to hear the two words, “I Quit.” Flair eventually spelled out the same to digest the loss. But it was another way to protect the 13-time champion as the loss didn’t come via pinfall or submission.

Wrestling Observer recently notified that the Smackdown Women’s title change was always expected at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 to kick off some fresh feuds on Friday nights. As for Flair, she was booked to go into a new rivalry against the returning Lacey Evans. But that might get postponed given that Flair won’t be available on TV.
