Going by the name Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 itself, it’s evident that major fallouts from the bygone Wrestlemania 38 will be addressed at the upcoming event. Hence, we can expect to have several rematches go down on the show. Last night, another such encounter was announced for the upcoming WWE Network Specials.

On Night One of WrestleMania 38, WWE Hall of Famer Edge defeated AJ Styles due to a ringside distraction from Damian Priest. This marked the beginning of a dark faction formed by Edge and Priest who have targeted Styles to hint at a rematch for Wrestlemania Backlash 2022.

Then on RAW After WrestleMania, Edge and Priest double-teamed on Styles while last week featured Styles vs. Priest in a singles bout. The match eventually ended with Priest disappearing from the ring.

Last night’s Raw featured another dark backstage segment with Edge and Priest where Edge issued the challenge for the rematch against Styles at WrestleMania Backlash 2022. Styles later accepted the challenge during a locker room interview with Sarah Schreiber.

During that segment, the locker room suddenly got all glowed up as Styles advised Schreiber to leave for her own safety. The lights then went out, helping Edge and Priest to surround Styles. The two heels beat him down and slammed him into a cabinet door onto his shoulder several times.

Edge and Priest gave their sadistic smiles to end the segment after sending a warning to Styles before Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. Edge vs. Styles was later confirmed on WWE’s social media as well as on WWE’s official website. Meanwhile, Edge and Priest’s faction is expected to grow even stronger after the heel-turn of Rhea Ripley who might proceed to join the group in the near future.
