WWE does not cancel even a single episode of Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown due to their lucrative TV deal with NBC and FOX, respectively. This is the reason why the superstars are often forced to work in the time holidays, too.
In general, the company used to force them to work during this timespan which falls in the last week of a year. But negative reactions all around the pro-wrestling circuit changed that norm for the past couple of years.
WWE canceled major surprise on FOX
As noted earlier by wrestlingINC.com, WWE planned on giving Superstars some time off during the holidays between Sunday, December 22nd and Thursday, December 26.
They would return to work the very next day in order to start tapings for FOX as the Friday Night SmackDown episode of Friday, December 27 will be live. There has been a slight change in the schedule.

The venue (Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa) for the December 17th taping of RAW announced the show is no more be happening. (This taped show would have been airing on December 23rd) The arena has been giving a reason that the show has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict. However, the insider report suggests something else as this particular show was not moving enough tickets.
The selling of tickets for this particular Raw TV taping on December 17th was extremely low. That must be the exact reason why WWE moved the show from the original host venue. Now the taping may take place at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
Or else, they could also schedule the show on the SmackDown taping on December 20th in Brooklyn, New York. It would be similar to the double tapings that the company has done in Manchester, England, last Friday night.
For now, the Tyson Events Center is advertising the following to confirm this holiday season’s Raw taping is not happening, there,
“Monday Night Raw taping scheduled for Tuesday, December 17TH at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict.
Credit Card Purchases done through authorized venue channels (Primebank Box Office, TysonCenter.com, or 855-333-8771) will be refunded automatically to the card used to make the original purchase.
Cash Purchases done at the box office may claim their refund by bringing their original tickets to the Primebank Box Office Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.”
