The city of Brotherly Love will be hosting the Extreme Rules 2022 premium live event, later this year. Philadelphia is known for being home to the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and WWE will fuel up nostalgia among the fans when one of the most extreme nights in the calendar gets hosted from that same city.
As per WWE’s announcement, Extreme Rules 2022 will take place on Saturday, October 8 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With that WWE’s current tradition of hosting their premium live events on a Saturday night instead of a Sunday night also continues. WWE Money in the Bank and Summerslam 2022 will also be hosted on Saturdays.

Extreme Rules 2022 expected to host some extreme stipulated matches
Extreme Rules 2022 will continue the tradition of WWE booking matches for this particular event under some “extreme” stipulations. Usually, an “Extreme Rules” match features in the main-event capacity while an interesting Eye for an Eye match or a Swamp Fight gets often placed on the card.
Extreme Rules 2022 will also mark the first premium live event to take place in Philadelphia since Elimination Chamber in March 2020, which was WWE’s last major event before the Covid-19 global pandemic began and the company was forced to produce television on a closed set of WWE PC until July of last year.
Prior to Extreme Rules 2022, the 2019 edition was also hosted from this Wells Fargo Center where in the main event segment, Brock Lesnar cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase to take away the Universal Championship from Seth Rollins.
