WWE: Mixed Match Challenge Result From 2nd Round: February 27, 2018

The Mixed Match Challenge continued on Facebook Watch as per its regular schedule just after the Smackdown Live show.

In case you don’t know, the winners from this knockout tournament will get to help a charity-trust with an amount of $100000. Last night witnessed the beginning of the second round matchups with a huge lineup from the WWE Raw division.

Six teams have already qualified for the second round of the tournament. So, the first team of Sasha Banks & Finn Balor took on Asuka & The Miz. The first team defeated Nakamura and Natalya, whereas, the second made Big E & Carmella their victims to earn this face-off.

It was supposed to be a tremendous Mixed Match Challenge between these two teams which comprised prime names from the flagship show. The matches hosted in the city of California which is home to The Miz. So, he took a mic to cut a promo rather than focusing on the match.

In a surprising move, The Miz wished to start the match against Finn Balor and started talking trash about the latter one targeting the Intercontinental Championship. On WWE Raw, Balor defeated The Miz which is why he is one of the contenders for the title. An irate Miz went on a rant on this. Balor shut him up with some quick moves.

Asuka was furious with his partner’s actions and wanted to get herself tagged into the match. But, The Miz continued competing against Balor. Later, Asuka tagged herself into the match to bring the contest to Sasha Banks. She started doing the IT kicks, as the crowd encouraged her.

Later, Banks countered it with her version of the YES kicks. But, Asuka escaped it and tagged in The Miz.

Balor capitalised with the opportunity and connected with the Coup De Grace. But, Asuka saved the match for her partner. Later, she paved the way for the win in the following way, (courtesy WWE.com)

“Taking her lead, Bálor locked The Miz in his own version of The Bank Statement. Asuka escaped Sasha’s clutches and trapped The Boss in the Asuka Lock, the non-legal Sasha tapped, and the distraction allowed Miz to roll up his opponent for the epic victory!“

With this win, Asuka & The Miz entered the semi-finale as the first team. Next week on Mixed Match Challenge, Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss will take on Jimmy Uso and Naomi in the second matchup of the second round.
