Since its beginning, Money in the Bank ladder matches has been one of the most popular gimmicks in the history of WWE. This is the reason why the company later introduced a standalone event under this gimmick. But under the changed regime led by Triple H, it appears that this particular event won’t return in the form of a pay-per-view, anymore.

As per the earlier reports by Wrestling Observer, WWE will be shaking up its pay-per-view schedule in 2023, as they intend to host more international events and fewer pay-per-views centering around a particular gimmick. Thus more shows like Clash at the Castle are expected while pay-per-views like Hell in a Cell, Money in the Bank, and Extreme Rules could be off the chart.

WWE Money In The Bank Ladder Matches Coming Back To Wrestlemania From 2023? 1

In an update, WrestleVotes has recently spoken with GiveMeSport, noting that WWE has talked about bringing Money in the Bank ladder matches back to WrestleMania. Since the biggest PLE of the year is hosted across two nights, the expectation is that one night will host the men’s ladder match while the other night will feature the women’s counterpart.

Money in the Bank ladder matches may not be moved to Wrestlemania after all

WrestleVotes also pointed out a valid reason why WWE may stay away from moving the gimmick matches into Wrestlemania card, after all,

“I don’t think they’re going to do that. Let’s say Money in the Bank was scheduled for Allegiant Stadium, and they’re hoping to get 50,000 people. If you can do that on the back of Money in the Bank, I don’t think you put that show in the garbage and put the matches WrestleMania.”

Back in early July, the 2022 edition was scheduled to be held at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada but the show was shifted to MGM Grand Garden Arena due to poor ticket sales.

From the inaugural edition of 2005 (WrestleMania 21) to 2010 (WrestleMania 26), the Money in the Bank Ladder Match use to be an integral part of the biggest show of the year. However, from 2010 onwards, WWE inserted a separate standalone event under the gimmick due to its increasing popularity.

The tradition of having the Money in the Bank ladder matches at WrestleMania ended from the 27th edition but given that Wrestlemania has become a two-night affair from 2020 onwards, inserting those matches into the card may help the company to stack things up from next year onward.
