October 22nd edition of WWE Raw will be a memorable episode by all means. After a long time, fans did agree that the creative team delivered a solid episode. Above all of that, it was a night filled up with emotions. The night started with Roman Reigns announcing his battle with blood cancer. He will no more be available on WWE programming, for now.
Must read: Replacement of Roman Reigns on Raw
This was perhaps a hint of the remaining members of the Shield to become even stronger in unity. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins dedicated the WWE Raw tag team championship win in honor of Roman Reigns. They did so only to have the fallout of the year. Dean Ambrose turned heel on his brother giving a vicious beatdown.
It was so disturbing to see a Lunatic beatdown on The Architect who was lying down outside the ring. Fans could have expected this kind of ending of an emotional night. The creative team took advantage of that and went ahead with this plan. The much-anticipated heel turn of Dean Ambrose also became reality after a long wait.
Recent reports are out confirming that this character transition of Dean Ambrose was about to see more delay. But the sudden announcement of Roman Reigns preponed it all of a sudden. Analysts discussed the topic on Wrestling Observer Live and revealed the original planning with the Lunatic Fringe who was due for a villainous gimmick.
As per the source, the original plan was to involve The Shield to carry forward their current stint until Survivor Series. This final big-four show of the year could witness Dean Ambrose turning on Seth Rollins. This would be a perfect payback from four years ago when The Man cracked a chair on the back of his two brethren.
But Roman Reigns’ emotional announcement forced the officials to pull the trigger on Dean Ambrose. The crowd would not expect this and did not want it to happen, either. The heel-turn on this particular night created tons of heat. Furthermore, millions of fans watched it as they got their eyes glued on WWE Raw on such an emotional night.
Execution of such an angle was so successful that security officers had to escort Dean Ambrose out of the building. Fans would remember this as perhaps the most vicious heel-turn of all-time. He would continue to bring out the heat for weeks to come doing some more villainous antics to Seth Rollins. Hopefully, this cements his spot in the main event slot for a long time.
