WWE has made the Tribute to the Troops event an annual one. It is a show that is dedicated to the army of the United States of America, who work all over the world to keep the countrymen safe. This year too, the event has been announced for the 13th consecutive year and it’ll be held in December.
Previously, Military Reports declared the event will take place during mid-December. Now, a report from the WWE suggests it’ll happen on December 13 i.e. on Tuesday Night. It’ll take place at the Verizon Center in Washington DC. As per the tradition, the event is not aired live. So, the taped show will go on air on December 14.
Since it’ll be Tuesday, Smackdown Live will be hosted on the same night at the same venue. So, the Tribute to the Troops will be taped prior to Smackdown.
This also means the WWE will have a jam packed week just before the holiday season starts. The week will start with Raw on December 12, following with Smackdown on Tuesday and Tribute to the Troops on Wednesday. Also, on December 18th, we’ll see the last PPV of the year i.e. WWE Roadblock: End of the Line.
“Our servicemen and women work tirelessly and selflessly for our freedom, and it is an honor to continue the ‘Tribute to the Troops’ tradition for them this year in our nation’s capital,” said Vince McMahon.
The Major General Bradley Becker for the Washington region has confirmed the reason for the event being held in the capital city by saying:
“The National Capital Region is … an ideal location for the upcoming ‘Tribute to the Troops’ because of a large number of military personnel and their families that live and work in the DC-Metro area.”
“I know that our service members are big fans of WWE and are excited to participate in this wonderful event,” he concluded.
