Roman Reigns failing to defeat Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34 appeared to be a shocking incident.

It was his destiny to ‘conquer the Conqueror’ en route to picking up his first Universal Championship. The picture-perfect storyline witnessed a buildup of one year to reach the culmination point. But, the outcome turned out to be much different.

Initially, we thought the booing reactions from the New Orleans crowd were the main reason behind not giving the title to Reigns. It is why WWE announced the rematch from the ‘show of shows’, all of a sudden, on the Greatest Royal Rumble. The Big Dog had bigger supports from the Abu Dhabi fans.

But, despite this arrangement, the outcome remained the same way. It was quite controversial. The official had to choose whether it was Reigns or Lesnar whose feet touched the floor first. From the replays, the challenger was the clear winner, but the referee decided the reigning champion to retain the title.

After this happened, rumours were surrounding all over claiming Roman Reigns might be done, as ‘The Guy’. From the day he started on the main roster, Vince McMahon saw him as the franchise player of the company. So, he never had to starve for a push. The main event picture always got reserved for him.

The internet tried to find out whether there has been any change in the planning of the WWE creative team. Brad Sheperd of Bodyslam.net gave an update on the situation.

Speaking of Braun Strowman being the backup plan for Roman Reigns, he stated it’s a sure shot Vince McMahon keeps personal interest on this monster. But, till date, The Guy managed to keep his position intact in the locker room.

“People were wondering, ‘is Roman Reigns still the guy in the eyes of WWE and Vince McMahon?’ Of course, Vince is very high on Braun, and I was told Vince has taken a personal interest in Braun’s success. But as for who ‘the guy’ is there’s been no indication internally that it’s no longer Roman Reigns.”

In future, Braun Strowman will definitely get title opportunities, especially after his Greatest Royal Rumble win.

As for Roman Reigns, the fact that Lesnar is inching closer to breaking CM Punk’s record might be the only thing that he could not topple the beast incarnate from his title reign.
