Speculations are running rampant about potential changes in WWE programming in 2019. The quality contents from the weekly shows have decreased a lot in the recent past. This took the TV ratings to the lowest extent forcing the authority figures to come up with some precautionary measures. As a result of the same, we saw the return of the entire McMahon family on WWE Raw and Smackdown. They abolished the middle-man post of general manager from both the shows.
They will be running things on WWE Raw and Smackdown promising a lot of fresh things will be in-store. A number of newer NXT superstars will make their main roster debuts in due course. WWE is also bringing back some of the superstars who were out with injuries from the past few months. Overall, the Royal Rumble event alongside the kick-off to Wrestlemania 35 should ensure things to get better in 2019.
Plus a reliable source has hinted that some big storylines might be waiting for us in 2019. Cagesideseats.com has suggested that WWE officials will be ‘loading up’ WWE Raw and Smackdown in January. Complaints of WWE Raw getting dull and lackluster is a common thing for the WWE Universe. So this report confirms a direct address from the officials to come up with a solution. The good thing about Smackdown is that they have been able to produce better matches and contents in comparison to WWE Raw.
But going by the reports, both the brands will undergo the same changes. The term ‘loading up’ hints that there could be some big returns are on the card to heat up the Wrestlemania 35 season. This could happen around Royal Rumble so that the storylines can kick off in the rightmost time.
One of the big returns has already been official courtesy of Mr. McMahon on this week’s WWE Raw. He announced the return of John Cena on the flagship show as well as the B-show of the company i.e. Smackdown Live. Currently, he is set to appear on the January 1st and 2nd episodes of WWE programming on the USA Network. There’s a chance that he might get involved in a storyline for the Royal Rumble PPV that could lead up to Wrestlemania 35. We will receive our answers once the episodes air, next week.
