Daniel Bryan might be a retired wrestler in the WWE, but technically he is free to wrestle. He has not been able to pursue his passion of competing inside the ring because his contract with the WWE is intact till 2018.
Unless it gets over, the company will not allow him to compete inside the ring, and he has to be happy with his post of Smackdown general manager.
But, it does not mean he will choose to keep just the way his career is, right now. We have heard from him telling he does intend to wrestle in the future and will not think twice before leaving WWE if he gets another chance to wrestle outside the biggest pro-wrestling promotion of the world.
Daniel Bryan appeared in an NHL Hockey game between the New Jersey Devils and Edmonton Oilers and hinted about whether he will be wresting, once again. He visited the Prudential Center to promote an episode of Smackdown Live. Meanwhile, he was asked about the whether his medical status is good enough so he can get back to in-ring competition.
A positive answer was given by the leader of the YES nation, as all the results turned out to be quite good which means he has no hesitations to wrestle, again. Check out his comments, here:
“All my tests have come back fantastic, better than people who have never had any concussion-type stuff. But it’s a weird thing. We’re in a weird situation politically with the climate around concussions; right now, it’s very difficult. WWE would love to have me back, but is that the smart thing for me as a business to bring me back?
If I was to come back, and they let me back, would they get a lot of flak for it? They have a ton of stockholders that they’re responsible for. It’s more than just, ‘Is he healthy to do it?”

If WWE does not allow to wrestle him, ever again then it is likely he makes a deal with any of the Indie Scene promotions, most likely, Ring of Honor. This where he earned a name for himself by performing over the last decade. NJPW in Japan also stands a big chance for him.
