Drew McIntyre returned to the main roster following this year’s Wrestlemania. He is a former NXT Champion who seemed more than ready to conquer the main event scene. In particular, he was one of those few names that Triple H and Vince McMahon invested on for the future. So a push was evident for him.
How Dolph Ziggler protected Drew McIntyre?
But the presence of several big superstars on the flagship show made the process slow. However, he never stopped getting relevance, at all. Rather, his character started to build in a slow process which is good for a long run. Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre were WWE Raw tag team champions becoming a regular name in the main event scene.
Now they do not have those golds on their waist as Drew McIntyre might be up for some big things. Reports are out from WrestleVotes claiming that the officials are rooting to make him the next top guy on the roster. A huge push is coming up in his way. So a run with the Universal Championship could be waiting for him.
Here’s what the source had to say,
“WWE has been high on Drew McIntyre for months now. The big push is indeed starting. They have major plans for him in 2019.”
Previously, it looked like Braun Strowman would be the next top guy on WWE Raw. Roman Reigns was out from the scene and someone needed to put on the leadership role in the backstage. However, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com has given some insider scoops about him. Indisciplined behavior and attitude problem have been a bar for him.
He arrives early and departs first from the shows which became a bad habit. This type of attitude could be a big reason why WWE did not present him with the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel. Here’s more from the source,
“They will be high on him and just when he gets to the point where you would think the next step would be putting him into the centerpiece position for the company something happens and he makes some kind of misstep backstage and people within management kind of cool on him and they take a step back.”
Drew McIntyre could use this opportunity well to go to the top. The feeling is that he will turn babyface at some point to get massive cheers from the crowd. This could automatically set him up as a top competitor in the long run. So none but the Scottish Psychopath could be the next one in line to capture the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar.
