WWE News: Has Daniel Bryan Signed a New Contract with WWE? 1

Daniel Bryan had a miraculous comeback to in-ring competition at Wrestlemania 34. WWE forced him to retire in 2016 owing to a neck concussion.

He collected pieces of evidence from numerous doctors around the USA that this concussion should not stop him from wrestling. It was after two years that the officials agreed to the reports and let him compete in the WWE again.

The return could have been even more significant in the past couple of months. We expected Bryan to go into the main event scene right after the tag team match at Wrestlemania. But WWE creative team wanted to keep his comeback momentum within a limited zone. So they booked him in a feud against Big Cass.

The lackluster feud did not do any favour for a guy like Daniel Bryan. He deserved a lot better competition especially the solid opponents that he can get on Smackdown Live. The fact that WWE released Big Cass following Money in the Bank downplayed Bryan’s achievement to a big extent.

The potential reason why WWE did not book him in the main event scene, is his contract. It is up for grabs starting from September 1st onwards. The concern is that Daniel Bryan has not signed a new deal with the company. It means that there’s still chance for him to get out of the biggest pro-wrestling promotion and work on the indie scenes.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave an update on the situation. Some of the fans thought that WWE managed to sign Daniel Bryan for one more multi-year contract. However, that is not true even though WWE is advertising him for the Super-Show-Down event in Australia on October 6th.

“Bryan being announced is not a sign that he has signed a new contract, as he has not. It is certainly possible, perhaps even likely, that he will. He also could go independent and do appearances with the company on shows like this, similar to what Rey Mysterio Jr., has done so far this year.”

Meltzer did mention there’s a chance he would re-sign with the WWE once again. This is the only reason why the company is advertising him for perhaps the biggest international event coming up in Australia. Hopefully, Daniel Bryan will be part of it being one of the biggest attractions of the night.
