Former Champion Claims To Save WWE After Coming Back

WWE has already started promoting the show, locally as to signify the marquee matches for that night. Roman Reigns was in the front of the first Stomping Grounds PPV poster. So he is likely to be featured in the main event match, as well. But in contrast to the earlier reports, there has been a change in his scheduled matchup for the upcoming show.

Shane McMahon and Elias have been feuding with Roman Reigns for quite sometimes. At Money in the Bank, Elias had a match with the Big Dog as well as a rematch with him on this past Smackdown. On both the occasions, he came up short that led to us a brand new match at Super ShowDown where younger McMahon takes on against the man who claims WWE to be his yard.

So the speculation was that Elias and Shane McMahon may continue their combined resistance against Roman Reigns. However, Drew McIntyre has now become a new ally for Shane as he downed Reigns on Smackdown with a Claymore. So he may be gearing up for another Wrestlemania rematch against the franchise player of the WWE. The match will go down at the first ever Stomping Grounds PPV.

PWInsider.com revealed the currently promoted matches for the PPV which are as follows,

WWE Championship Match: Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens

WWE Universal Championship Match: Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin

Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre

Even Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Reigns is up for a grueling battle against McIntyre in near future, “[Drew McIntyre is] Shane’s new enforcer so he may take the spot that Elias was gonna have in that program.”

While WWE fans would not be unhappy to see a rematch between these two at Stomping Grounds, the Universal title match may disappoint them. Baron Corbin will get a championship opportunity who is the least favorite amongst for the WWE Universe. On the other hand, Kofi Kingston may continue his title reign until the June 23rd PPV arrives.
