For the better part of 2016, we have been consistently hearing rumors of Kurt Angle returning to the WWE to have one last stint. It was during the WWE Draft when the rumor mill literally confirmed the news. However, that hasn’t happened, till date.
The former WWE Superstar recently had a sit down with Comicbook.com where he revealed that the rumor mill does have a base. He is in talks with the WWE for one final return but that has to be the rightmost opportunity where he can deliver with his very best.
Kurt Angle further clarified that he is only interested in returning if Vince and Triple H both want him very bad.
“For me to go back it’d have to be the right match, the right program, and also you have to have interest from Triple H and Vince McMahon. I spoke with them a few months ago, they do have interest. They just don’t know what they want to do, and they don’t know when.”
Angle being the only Olympic Gold medalist in the pro-wrestling industry wanted to fight the very best wrestlers in the WWE. He wanted his preference to be Daniel Bryan but since he is retired, he would love to fight Seth Rollins, the very best architect in the ring.
“I wanted Daniel Bryan. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s able to go anymore. But I’d say right now on that roster Seth Rollins is the guy. I watch how he is, what he does, his style, his ability in the ring. There are other wrestlers I’d like to wrestle like Rusev and Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, but right now I think that Seth Rollins has the bull’s eye on his chest.”
However, in his view, AJ Styles is the best wrestler in the world, currently. Both have tremendous mutual respect for each other since they worked together in the TNA wrestling promotion.
“AJ consistently has 4-star matches at the very least. 5-star most of the time. But it’s the fact that you can get in the ring with him and not break a sweat. What makes him the greatest wrestler in the world today is the fact that he can do all the stuff that he does, and all I have to do is catch him.”
