WWE is coming back with Mae Young Classic series. It should be delightful news for all the fans especially for those who love women’s wrestling.
This is the first-ever tournament in pro-wrestling business which featured an all-women lineup. The WWE Network ratings received a huge booster with this premiering. It was a whole new experience for the fans.
Now, the WWE Network is coming back with its second season. We have already noticed a new vignette popping out on the video platform. More reports are now available on this year’s Mae Young Classic tournament, courtesy of Wrestling Observer Live. They provided some update on the taping dates of the show.
Bryan Alvarez from the mentioned source confirmed the taping would take place this summer. The ladies will perform on August 6th and 7th on WWE’s developmental territory. The Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida will be the place to be for the fans. It is still unknown whether we will receive a fan-fest during the inaugural event.

Several global names will come back to the WWE to take part in this history-making tournament. If the airing gets continuing success, then WWE might make this one an annual tradition in their programming. 32 women should participate in this year’s Mae Young Classic, too. The source mentioned some names that should be in it.
Io Shirai is one of them. The international sensation was on the verge of coming to the WWE, last year. A neck injury prevented her from doing so. WWE has taken back the offered contract to this talented athlete. She lost the Wonder Of Stardom Championship which is an indication of coming back to the company.
Stillrealtous.com also speculated that Toni Storm should make her way back to the WWE, as well,
“Toni Storm could also be on her way back to the Mae Young Classic this year after making it all the way to the semifinals during last year’s event. Her face popped up during a promo package hyping WWE’s upcoming UK Championship Tour in June. Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that she told Stardom that she had to make it back by the time those tour dates would take place too which is very interesting.”
It is not clear whether WWE Network would air the Mae Young Classic episodes in a chunk like last year. WWE should make it public once Summerslam gets over. It will drag more subscribers to the platform. It can move back to the fall depending on the then situation.
