As reported earlier, the WWE had arranged the Wrestlemania feud between the two power couples of the WWE to garner mainstream attention. They did receive the same with this match in which John Cena-Nikki Bella teamed up against The Miz-Maryse.
In the process, we had received one of the biggest Wrestlemania moments of all time when John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella on live television.
Now, ever since the feud kicked off on Smackdown Live, the storyline progressed with the serious ‘real-life’ bad blood between Maryse and Nikki Bella. The French Woman accused the Bella Queen of blocking her WWE contract and not allowing her to return to the WWE for more than three years.
Maryse also stated that the Bella Twins were eager to establish themselves as the face of the Total Divas show. To do so, they barred her from coming back so that she can’t be a part of the opening season. The earlier reports also suggested that the Bellas might have tried the same trick with numerous former Divas like Maria Kanellis, Kelly Kelly and more.
WWE has recently aired an episode of Table For 3 on the WWE Network featuring three former Divas champion, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly and Maryse where this topic was nurtured, further. Maryse, once again, clarified by noting that how much of the feud was influenced by real-life incidents.
She also noted that it was hard for her to stay away from her husband for more than three years. The Miz was performing all around the country with the roster where she had to sit in her home and watch all of this. According to her, Nikki and Brie Bella had something to do with this. Check out her comments from the WWE Network episode:
“There’s a lot of truth, and everything that has been happening is 100% the way it is. To be able to come out and tell the story, yeah. I always say karma is a thing that is real.
The biggest positive for me is definitely working with Mike [Mizanin], and we just complement each other so well, and we do great together. And you see where we were when we first started at the WrestleMania last year, this year, I mean, thank you, we’re doing so well. If you would have asked me before, five years ago, even when I came back last year, I would have told you ‘no.”
It’s a reality that this storyline was accepted by a certain amount of fans. Considering that the natural heat that Cena and Nikki get from the audience, they were booed heavily on every show that was held before Wrestlemania. So, an automatic buzz was generated among the audience with this interesting matchup.
