WWE News: Potential Main Event Match From WWE Raw at Backlash 1

Next time when WWE will bring a PPV event to us, it would be the Backlash event in May.

It will start a new era in the WWE programming, as from that night, the brand exclusive PPV events will get extinct. All the WWE Network-special PPV show will be dual-branded, going forward. It can be assumed that each of the PPV shows will get bigger from now onwards.

The Backlash PPV will be hosted on May 6th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Apparently, one of the main events from that night is all set from the WWE Raw division after what transpired on this week’s edition.

Samoa Joe returned to the show after three months to confront Roman Reigns setting up a match.

While the Big Dog was cutting a promo letting us know about the upcoming championship match against Brock Lesnar at the Greatest Royal Rumble event, Samoa Joe interrupted him and announced he would face the franchise player at Backlash. WWE.com later sanctioned this match,

“With no love-loss between Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns, there is no telling how much destruction will occur when they once again lock horns. Who will emerge in one piece? Find out at WWE Backlash, Sunday, May 6, streaming live at 8/7 C on the award-winning WWE Network.”

According to the rumours from wrestlingINC.com, this can turn out to be a title match if Roman Reigns eventually beats Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at the Greatest Royal Rumble.

Samoa Joe will already become the number one contender in that case. The WWE audience will certainly like the renewal of this rivalry.

However, this is purely wild speculation, right now considering there’s no such update regarding Lesnar dropping the title to Reigns at Abu Dhabi. Regardless what the outcome might be, Reigns vs Jos is a given main event in any capacity.

Furthermore, another championship match got included in the Backlash match card which is for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The Miz has invoked his rematch clause which was accepted by the current champion. Hence, Seth Rollins vs The Miz will happen at the upcoming PPV event unless there’re some major changes during the Superstar Shakeup.
