WWE News: Randy Orton Is Considered As The Roman Reigns Of Smackdown Live

Randy Orton is said to be the one as the Vince McMahon’s guy, over the years. It is understandable considering the fact that he is a 13-time WWE World champion, in combined. Only, three other superstars have more championship reigns than him (Triple H, Ric Flair & John Cena).
The Viper has received a major push following this year’s Royal Rumble. He went on to win his second Rumble event to headline Wrestlemania 33. It was a pretty great accomplishment even at this age. He not only featured in the WWE championship match against Bray Wyatt but also won the prime title at the biggest event of the year.
It was a pretty weird decision to bury an emerging talent like Bray Wyatt to a guy who has accomplished everything in the WWE and nothing more left for him. So, the wrestling fans complained about the decision for a long time.
So, as per reports from SportsKeeda, it was purely Vince McMahon’s idea to make Randy Orton the champion, once again. He is considered as the Smackdown’s version of Roman Reigns. This was also the reason behind making him the babyface prior to Wrestlemania 33.
Despite getting negative reactions over the last couple of years, Roman Reigns was not turned into a heel since he is the representative of the company by according to The Boss.
The same can be said for Orton, as well. Despite the push that Jinder Mahal is getting in recent times, he will not pick up the title, anytime soon. So, it is pretty clear that The Apex Predator of the WWE will retain the championship at the upcoming Backlash PPV.
He is also not expected to lose the title at Summerslam. If the plans keep on changing then he might hold it even beyond that PPV also. For now, no one from the Smackdown roster is said to grab the title from Orton’s grasp.
Apparently, the huge push towards Randy Orton was confirmed during last year’s Summerslam. Despite the veteran he is, he was willing to receive a vicious beatdown from the beast incarnate, Brock Lesnar. We have seen him lying in a pool of blood after the Summerslam main event. McMahon has promoted him to be the Rumble winner at that point and the push is likely to continue for the upcoming months.
