Goldberg is all set to feature in the Universal championship match at the upcoming Raw-exclusive PPV. On March 5th, at the main event of the Fastlane PPV, he will take on the reigning champion, Kevin Owens. The event will happen at the BMO Bradley Harris Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is also the final PPV before Wrestlemania and will decide the lineups for the biggest event of the year.
The reports are already suggesting that Goldberg is the clear favorite heading into the match. He will pin KO to become the new Universal champion at Fastlane to make his encounter with Brock Lesnar, a title match. The fans are also expecting him to win in the title match that he will be participating after a hiatus of nearly 13 years, as well.
Now, there’s a reason stated by ringsidenews.com as why would the creative choose Goldberg to become the prime titleholder in the flagship show of the WWE. It stated that none other than Vince McMahon wants to see the Myth with the title heading towards Wrestlemania. He is rooting for a veteran rather than a guy from the indie scene i.e. KO who can give a successful main event.
There is already a portion of the fan who are not willing to see Goldberg as the champion considering him as the part-timer. But, the Boss has full faith on him that he should do full justice if given a chance with the title. The former WCW franchise would add more prestige to the title walking into the Citrus Bowl as the champion. He is also expected to deliver a successful marquee match against Lesnar at the event.
It clearly supports the fact that Vince McMahon gives priority to the part-timers when it comes to Wrestlemania. This is the same reason why he made Triple H the WWE champion, last year. The same consequences have witnessed The Rock or Brock Lesnar heading into Wrestlemania as champions. We can only hope that Goldberg delivers as expected by the chairman of the company this time, too.
