WWE News: Rob Van Dam’s current status and return update in WWE

Rob Van Dam is known for his high-flying electric moves and had a solid career in WWE and ECW. He was the only one to hold both the ECW and WWE title at the same time. He was the heart and soul of the ECW prior to that by holding the championship there for almost two years. His ally with Jerry Lawler gave his the tag name “Mr. Monday Night.”
But, that was until his return to 2013. He returned after a six-year hiatus in Philadelphia creating a good hype but afterward the spell never lived up to the expectations. He was put into a feud with Alberto Del Rio and ended up losing a series of matches consistently. After that, he left WWE and reports say that Van Dam was unhappy about how WWE treated him during his return.
He was contracted with WWE to star only in the mid-card scene and hence was not given with any of the major championships in the second stint. He even tried to win the Intercontinental title but came up short there, too. He came back in 2014 but vanished within months.
In a recent interview with X-Pac, RVD said that he was not contacted by the company for one long year now. He quoted, “No, I haven’t heard from them since, it’s almost been a year actually. It was last October when we talked, and it really wasn’t a good time for me to go out on the road. I had personal stuff that I was going through. But there’s always a dollar amount that makes it worthwhile, you know what I mean? But the amount that would’ve made it worth it for me to go out and work wouldn’t have been worth it for them and what they were thinking, and so that just didn’t work out, which was good because I really wasn’t wanting to do it then. And also I might’ve scared them away with the number it would’ve taken to make it worth my while. So no, I really haven’t even talked to them.”
It is surprising at a time when superstars like Shelton Benjamin, Jinder Mahal, Curt Hawkins and even Rhyno has come back to the company, why RVD is not under consideration for at least one last title run in WWE. “The Human Highlight Reel” still has the power to be a big attraction either on Raw or Smackdown.
