Kofi Kingston has finally earned an opportunity to go to Wrestlemania 35 on this past edition of Smackdown Live. He will now challenge for the WWE Championship match squaring off against Daniel Bryan at the biggest event of the year in pro-wrestling. The match will take place at the MetLife Stadium in New York, New Jersey.
Reason why Kofi will not become champion at Wrestlemania
Revealed: Future of Brock Lesnar in WWE
The challenger has garnered attention from all around the pro-wrestling world ever since the beginning of this particular storyline. He started by delivering inhuman performances in a Gauntlet match followed by a solid Elimination Chamber match. Plus, he also pinned Daniel Bryan twice during this timespan to earn his opportunity to go to Wrestlemania 35.

But, Vince McMahon considers him as a good B-plus player who is not worthy of getting a WWE Championship shot at Wrestlemania 35. So he had to go through another Gauntlet match to come up short due to McMahon’s dirty tricks. Finally, The New Day members won another Gauntlet match, this week forcing The Boss to confirm the title match.
This just showed how strong the bond is between the New Day members. Xavier Woods and Big E gave everything possible for their buddy to ensure that he lands up at Wrestlemania. However, this happening might produce a big swerve at the very end of this storyline. A betrayal could be waiting for Kofi Kingston costing his first solo title shot on April 7th.
Brad Shepard mentioned on ‘Oh You Didn’t Know’ podcast that he finds a separate angle created by the way The New Day members created a way for Kofi Kingston to the ‘show of shows’. This could ultimately lead Xavier Woods and Big E turning on Kofi Kingston with the thought that Kofi never earned his shot on his own.
Here’s more what the source has said,
“[Kofi] can’t get the job done on his own. He’s told he is a B plus player so what do they do? They have his partners – his partners actually get the opportunity for him and the only way that makes sense to me is if they turn on Kingston at WrestleMania or maybe the night after.”
Previously, Vince McMahon alluded the fact that some superstars on the roster have become stale. So he just decided to boost up their characters prior to Wrestlemania 35 and The New Day might have been one of those names whom the Chairman targeted. So the former tag team champions could be breaking up sooner to go separate ways, as per the source,
“I don’t see any other way a story like that makes sense. It certainly doesn’t do Kofi Kingston any favors.”
