This year’s Royal Rumble is quite different from the previous 30 editions since there will not be one but two Rumble matches in the evening. One of them will be contested for the men’s division whereas the other one will be reserved for an all women’s lineup.
For the first time, the female wrestlers will compete in this match to earn an opportunity to the championship at Wrestlemania.
Ever since this announcement was made by Stephanie McMahon on WWE Raw in December, the speculations are quite high with this particular match that will change the course of the women’s division, forever. The rules of the match were kept the same just like the men’s Rumble match where 30 superstars will compete to win it.
But, it is to be noted that the female locker room does not even have that much strength, right now. Combining the Raw and Smackdown locker room, we will get 22 superstars. That too will be arranged in a way where the women’s championship will not be on the line so that the two respective challengers can compete in the Royal Rumble match.
Plus, there would be at least a few surprise names from the past in the match to fill up the match. Recently, an episode of Total Divas has revealed spoilers of two big returns in this match. In a recent bygone episode of the reality TV series on the E Network, the senior talent relationship officer Mark Carrano had a meeting with The Bella Twins.
It was confirmed that both Nikki Bella and Brie Bella would make their much-anticipated return to the company in this history-making match. Going forward, they both will be working in storylines on either of the brands that will lead up to Wrestlemania. So, it’s certain that the Bellas will be available for this year’s Wrestlemania, as well.
Nikki Bella was always confirmed to make her return once get cleared by the doctors. Her last match took place at Wrestlemania 33 where John Cena proposed her in front of live audience. Brie, on the other hand, had her last match, a year ago before having a baby. It will be interesting to see whether she will be back for full-time wrestling or not.
