The road to Wrestlemania 35 for Kofi Kingston faces another roadblock. This time, around the task in hand, seems impossible for him to pull off as he goes into battle against five superstars! As much as it is unthinkable, it will go down from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Vince McMahon confirmed this Gauntlet match to determine the fate of WWE Championship on next week’s Smackdown.

A romantic relationship starting on Smackdown

New Wrestlemania match announced on Smackdown

We head into last night’s show with an announcement that Vince McMahon was about to address the Kofi Kingston situation. Apparently, he was hell-bent on barring him from going into Wrestlemania 35. The crowd wants to see Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston for a long time. But The Boss does not consider him as an A-player. He will always be a mid-card talent who might go into the Hall of Fame as part of The New Day but not in his own caliber.

This is why Vince McMahon repeatedly created roadblocks in his path. However, the crowd still chanted Kofi’s name, as well as The New Day, presented enough theory as to why he should receive the chance. So, McMahon came up with the announcement of a Gauntlet match. Kofi Kingston will have to defeat Randy Orton, Sheamus, Cesaro, Samoa Joe and Rowan! From a storyline angle, there’s no way that Kofi could become successful.

Kofi Kingston has been the hottest thing in WWE for the past several weeks. The Smackdown Gauntlet match taken place prior to Elimination Chamber has put him in a place where people recognized him as an unsung hero. Kofi-Mania has been running wild ever since around the WWE Universe. He was about to get a WWE Championship match through this.

But Vince McMahon decided to take away this opportunity at Fastlane. Rather he put Kevin Owens in the challenger’s position and made the title match official. Later it became a triple threat match involving Mustafa Ali. Daniel Bryan pinned him to retain his title in a match where Kofi Kingston was the original choice.

Vince McMahon also decided to punish Kofi Kingston by putting him in a two-on-one contest. The Bar has punished him throughout the match at Fastlane before picking up the easy win. It was not clear from a storyline prospect why The Boss was putting Kofi through troubles for doing nothing. We expected an answer from him on last night’s Smackdown. Well, the authority seemed to please everybody giving an opportunity to the popular superstar with a ‘catch’. We’ll see whether a miracle is waiting for Kofi, next week.
