Kofi-Mania prevailed on last night’s Smackdown after weeks of pray from the WWE Universe. Kofi Kingston will challenge Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship as announced by the Boss of the WWE, Vince McMahon. He continued to put barriers against the challenger for the past few weeks as well as last night. But Kofi alongside Bis E and Xavier Woods continued achieving the target.

McMahon announced another tag team Gauntlet match on last night’s Smackdown. The stipulation was if The New Day wins this then Kofi Kingston will get the title shot against Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania. The match started with Gallows and Anderson challenging the trio. They fell victim to the Midnight Hour as well as the next opponents, Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura.

The Bar was out next on Smackdown throwing the toughest challenge to the New Day. Cesaro almost picked up the win via the submission moves. But a simple roll-up from Woods eliminated them. The Usos chose to forfeit showing respect to New Day’s effort.

The last opponents were Daniel Bryan and Rowan against the New Day. This time around, E and Woods buried Rowan under the announce table to pick up the count out victory. McMahon had no choice after this win but to make Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston official for Wrestlemania 35. Smackdown ended on a happy note as the superstars celebrated.

Kofi Kingston has seen a Daniel Bryan kind of rise in the past few weeks. He has gone on to become a main-eventer guy from a nobody status that resembles a fairytale. Only his Wrestlemania opponent had such a good time, five years ago when he converted the entire event into Yes-O-Mania in New Orleans.

Apparently, WWE wanted to reincarnate the same story around Kofi Kingston on Smackdown. They set up this fan favorite superstar to be a prime babyface on the roster by punishing him for nothing. This auto-generated sympathy from the fans and more support from the Jamaican superstar. So there was not much doubt about this man going into Wrestlemania 35.

Vince McMahon ‘worked’ himself into the storyline acting as the ultimate villain for the WWE Universe and Kofi Kingston. This is why Kofi did not get the Wrestlemania opportunity despite winning an impossible Gauntlet match on Smackdown. But we expected him to find an alternative way to ‘Mania on last night’s show. That’s exactly what happened as McMahon inserted the so-called lower caliber player into the WWE Championship match.
