WWE News: WWE Putting An End To Wild Card Rule Sooner 1
McMahon introduced Wild Card Rule-courtesy WWE

Vince McMahon’s idea to pull up the TV ratings introducing the Wild Card Rule was not very much popular, anyway. Why would WWE bring the two brands together, once again that resembles an era of four to five years ago? Plus, the rule started to apply on the night after Superstar Shakeup making a complete joke out of the brand separation process. So we did not get that much of a rating up-gradation result of the process on either Raw or Smackdown.

Thankfully, the Wild Card Rule is coming to an end as per the current reports. WWE will make the rule extinct as Summerslam passes by since they have to start processing the shift of Smackdown Live to Fox Sports. It’s a must need that the blue brand receives its own identity. But it will be an overall slow process that the current rule will start missing out from weekly shows.

Brad Shepard recently reported that his WWE insider source considers Wild Card Rule as a ‘bull**it’ and so it has to go away at some point. Plus, ringsidenews.com carried a report from Tom Colohue who revealed that WWE will be moving away from the Wild Card Rule after Summerslam. But as stated earlier, it will be a slow and gradual process without much shenanigans or promotions around it. Here’s more from the source,

“They’re quietly wrapping up the wild card rule. No big announcement or anything. There’s a lot of people who want it to end. Companies, sponsors, management, and talent. You don’t get another Lynch and Rousey moment without that Survivor Series format.”

No doubt this big change will be happening as Smackdown Live is merely two months away from moving to the Fox Sports. Apparently, this is going to be the biggest show in quite a few years where WWE will pulling out all the stops. Apparently, the show will have more of a cinematic look after the airing begins on Fox from October 4th onwards. You can check more on this from WrestleVotes,

“When the move to FOX happens, expect SmackDown to be shot with different cameras. WWE tested out some newer, much more expensive technology recently and said to have liked what it produced. It will seem cinematic-like, similar to some WWE24 footage.”

Fox Sports Officials are trying to bring in numerous mainstream celebrities on that night that will take place in Los Angeles. WWE would ensure that more pro-wrestling celebrities will be in attendance on that night including the icon and Hollywood megastar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It’s almost certain that no such Wild Card Rule will be available during that time on WWE programming.
