Two brand new matches for the continuation of NXT Gold Rush 2023 have been confirmed for the second night. In one of those new matches, NXT Heritage Cup Championship will be on the line as the current winner of the cup, Nathan Frazer will defend it against Dragon Lee.
The match was announced during a backstage segment on this week’s episode of NXT where Frazer claimed that he owed a match to Lee over the cup. Last week, Lee helped him to win the title from Oro Mensah (proxying for Noam Dar) by helping him against the Meta-Four stable on NXT consisting of Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson, and Lash Legend.

Thus, the NXT Gold Rush 2023 Night Two will be the first time that Frazer will defend the Heritage Cup. Frazer became the champion on the June 13 episode but he never defeated the actual champion Noam Dar but his replacement, Mensah. Now, Frazer will go up against Lee who made his in-ring debut against him a few months back.
During the Night One of NXT Gold Rush 2023, Malik Blade & Edris Enofe defeated Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen and Hank Walker & Tank Ledger in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match to capture the number-one contenders’ spot for the NXT Tag Team Titles. Thus, next week they get to challenge the reigning champions Gallus – Wolfgang and Mark Coffey for the titles.
Before NXT Gold Rush 2023, Malik and Enofe received a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championship during the October 25, 2022 episode of NXT against Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) who are now members of the Smackdown roster. Gallus won the NXT Tag Team Champions in February of this year and their last successful title defense came against the Creed Brothers during the NXT Background premium live event.
