NXT Heatwave 2023 has been the latest themed weekly episode for WWE’s third brand, this Tuesday night. Multiple matches for the upcoming show were announced on this week’s NXT where a number of main roster superstars will be seen in competition. Additionally, a big debut also went down on the show.
WWE Legend The Rock’s daughter Ava Raine (real name: Simone Johnson) competed in her first-ever singles match on the NXT Heatwave 2023 Specials. For weeks now, the rivalry between her and Ivy Nile has been building up. The two were then been booked to participate in a singles contest where Nile tapped her opponent out via a submission.
Raine’s cohorts The Schism has also been involved in a feud with Ivy Nile’s cohorts Diamond Mine over the past few weeks in WWE NXT and continues to unfold at NXT Heatwave 2023 Last month, The Dyad defeated The Creed Brothers in a Loser Leaves NXT match, but The Schism thinks Julius and Brutus Creed are still hiding in NXT and they could have disguised themselves as masked members in Schism.

The Creed Brothers didn’t leave NXT but they have denied those allegations. On the latest episode of NXT, Ivy Nile and two masked members of The Schism cost The Dyad their NXT Tag Team Championship match against The Family members Tony D’Angelo and Lorenzo.
Then in a WWE Digital Exclusive, it was Ava who challenged Ivy Nile to a match at NXT Heatwave 2023 via the following comments,
“Ivy, your role is essential in the games that The Creeds play, but it is getting so old. So for once, why don’t you step out of the shadows? Why don’t you do something for yourself? Why don’t you stop being a third wheel?
How about at Heatwave, it’s you and me, and Ivy, after I am done with you.”
Following this message, WWE was seen officially promoting Ava Raine vs. Ivy Nile for NXT Heatwave 2023. As noted above, Ava was thus seen competing in her first-ever singles contest in her WWE career. She has wrestled 4 matches (2 televised and 2 non-televised) in tag team matches, so far.
