The first-ever NXT Heatwave special episode aired this week on the USA Network where the NXT Championship match acted as the main event. A Winner Take All Street Fight was also on the card between two resident faction leaders of the brand.
WWE NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes put their championships on the line. Also, the heated personal rivalry between Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade produced a matchup. – Carmelo Hayes (c) defeated Giovanni Vinci to retain NXT North American Championship in the first match of NXT Heatwave. Trick Williams tried to provide a distraction but received a powerbomb from Vinci who went for another such move on Hayes but the champion countered with a sunset flip for the win.
WWE Raw: First Women’s Tag Team Tourney Semifinal Match Set For August 22 Episode
– Julius and Brutus Creed accused Roderick Strong of trying to hostage things for the Diamond Mine. Roderick tried to calm things down when NXT UK’s Gallus stable (Wolfgang, Joe Coffey, and Mark Coffey) attacked Diamond Mine from behind.
WWE NXT 2.0: Bron Breakker Reportedly Dating Fellow Female Colleague
– Cora Jade defeated Roxanne Perez in the first match of their rivalry. Perez snatched a kendo stick from Jade and tried to use it only for Jade to come from the back and hit her finisher to pick up the big win.
WWE NXT Heatwave Results (16/08/22): Winner Take All Street Fight
– In one of the marquee matches of NXT Heatwave, Tony D’Angelo defeated Santos Escobar in a Street Fight, and per the stipulation for the match, Escobar must leave NXT 2.0 handing Legado del Fantasma to Tony. D’Angelo grabbed his crowbar while Escobar had the brass knuckles but it was D’Angelo who was the first to hit Escobar with the crowbar to get the pinfall win.
– Indi Hartwell received a letter from the recently returned Dexter Lumis on WWE programming. Suddenly, Blair Davenport made her NXT debut and ripped up the latter.
– Mandy Rose (c) defeated Zoey Stark to retain the NXT Women’s Championship on NXT Heatwave. Rose hit Stark with the Bicycle Knee but Stark kicked out of it. Rose then wore Stark’s knee brace and connected with the Bicycle Knee again, for the victory.
– A vignette was shown for “The Super Diva” Quincy Elliot’s arrival on NXT 2.0
– In the main event of NXT Heatwave, Bron Breakker (c) defeated JD McDonagh to retain his NXT Championship. Breakker dodged a moonsault attempt and connected with three spears to secure the pin to win. After the match, NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate came out and confronted Breakker to end the show.
