Last night’s WWE Raw marked the beginning of storylines for the WWE Day 1 PPV event from Long Island, New York. But more than that, it was mostly talked about two promo sessions which were all over the social media – one by WWE Hall of Famer Edge, and another by Liv Morgan. The promos kept on trending on Twitter, hours later after the show was over.
Liv Morgan had a back and forth promo session with WWE RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch during their contract signing segment for a title match set for next week. Morgan mentioned on Becky’s contract being two huge and that being the reason for her partners’ release (indicating the departures of her former Riott Squad partners, Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott (aka Ruby Soho in AEW).

“You’re the reason why your friend [SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair) is gone, just like your big, fat, greedy contract is the reason why my friends are gone. How does it feel knowing you’ve become everything you despised?” Morgan stated during her promo.
PWInsider reported that that multiple sources confirmed that Morgan’s lines used on WWE Raw came from WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon, or someone else from the WWE creative team. This was not an attempt by Morgan to do something and go viral amongst the fans.
Edge dropped pipebombs on WWE Raw
Edge returned last night but he was confronted by The Miz and Maryse, who were the other returnees on WWE RAW. Their back and forth promo session included a reference to John Morrison’s WWE release and the fact that CM Punk mentioned The Miz in the AEW Dynamite segment with MJF, who also added references to several top WWE Superstars.
“You have people on other shows saying your name just to get a cheap reaction. You live rent-free in a lot of heads,” Edge stated to the Miz. “You use this to get notoriety for your next endeavor, for your next reality show, for your next dance competition while you leave your partners high and dry to get fired.”
PWInsider added for this WWE Raw segment that Edge has the creative freedom of his promos, and the viral lines are likely something that he came up with, himself. The Rated R Superstar intentionally used some ‘additional edge and realism’ while blasting The Miz with those harsh words which was not something given to him by WWE creative. Following this conversation, the two are expected to collide in a future matchup.
