This week’s episode of WWE Raw marks the final one before the inaugural WWE Day 1 PPV, this weekend. A stacked card for the night has been announced with the headliner being a wedding segment. The Miz and Maryse will say ‘I Do’, once again as they celebrate upstaging Hall of Famer Edge for two consecutive weeks.

Top matches have also been announced for the show as AJ Styles will compete in a singles contest against Omos. United States Championship will be on the line while one-half of the Raw tag team championships will also be seen in action on the post-Christmas WWE Raw scheduled from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

It has been announced that “the most must-see wedding” will take place on this week’s episode of WWE RAW. The Miz and Maryse will renew their wedding vows, as per the announcement.

For the past few weeks, Maryse has been involved in the build for Edge vs. The Miz for Day 1. Two weeks ago, Maryse slapped her husband and walked out on him after Miz tried to use her as a shield. It was apparently a ruse as last week, Maryse helped Miz to take out Edge during The Cutting Edge talk-show. It’s been rumored for a long time that WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix will get involved in the feud and tonight could mark her return to provide back-up to her husband, Edge.

One half of the WWE RAW Tag Team Champions, Randy Orton will compete against Otis in a singles contest. Orton vs. Otis will happen as a result of the recent feud between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.

Otis and Chad Gable recently moved forward to the RAW Tag Team Titles, but they also have taken multiple TV losses to The Street Profits and The Mysterios. Otis defeated Riddle in singles action, while Orton defeated Gable, last week with Riddle being absent from the scene. After that match, Otis blocked three RKO attempts by Orton to set up this upcoming match.

The Street Profits vs. The Mysterios are set in the finale of the tourney but reports claimed that the match could be off given Riddle’s recent absence due to unknown COVID-19 related reasons. The title match was reportedly set for Day 1 which could now be off the card.

Dolph Ziggler has become the new number-one contender to WWE United States Champion Damian Priest. Last week, Ziggler faced Priest in a non-title Championship Contenders bout, just two weeks after Priest retained over Robert Roode in an Open Challenge match.

Roode got involved forcing Priest to get counted out in the match. As Ziggler won by count-out, he was named the new challenger for the mid-card title. Priest vs. Ziggler for the US Title was thereby announced for tonight’s WWE Raw.

The tag team of AJ Styles and Omos has been split. After a few weeks of tension between the former WWE RAW Tag Team Champions, they went physical during an appearance on Miz TV, last week. Omos’ actions also caused AJ to come up short in a tag match against Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio.

AJ originally claimed to be on the same page with Omos on Miz TV but Miz claimed otherwise. Omos proved it right as he denied tagging in during the match against the Mysterios. As they traded blows, AJ tried to fly in from the apron with a Phenomenal Forearm, but Omos caught him in mid-air, slammed in the ring. Afterward, it was noted that the two will meet in the ring in a match.

Theory vs. Balor will go down in a rematch on this week’s WWE RAW. Balor won the first singles match between the two after Theory grabbed his phone for a selfie. A frustrated Theory later attacked Balor during a backstage segment, and then spoke to WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon in his office, to earn one more chance to prove his worth.

Vince went ahead and said he will give Theory one more chance, in the form of a rematch. Theory stated earlier that Vince sees him as the next WWE Champion. If he can end up winning the match against Balor then Vince might hand him a title match in the near future.
