AJ Styles has entered a confusing storyline with Vince McMahon for the past few weeks. It started with a backstage segment on the Christmas edition where these two had a confrontation. The Boss eventually slapped him into the face that outraged the former WWE Champion. So he fired back to McMahon with a punch to the face. There was not any major fallout waiting for AJ Styles, afterward.
Later he went on to win a fatal-5-way match on Smackdown to become the number one contender for the WWE Championship. He will challenge Daniel Bryan for the title at Royal Rumble. So the point is why WWE has involved him in an angle with Vince McMahon himself. SportsKeeda.com came up with an interesting report that seems suitable enough.
It looks like WWE is setting up AJ Styles for a match against Batista. Going by the fact that Wrestlemania is inching closer, it should take place at the biggest event of the year. The source had some strong evidence of hinting so. In the first altercation between the two of them, Vince McMahon wanted AJ Styles to unleash the Animal (which is the famous nickname of Batista) inside him.
The next week, Vince McMahon continued uttering the same word to AJ Styles that fired up the latter one. The Phenomenal One then went on to win the fatal-5-way match and earn a championship opportunity. McMahon kept on smiling during these confrontation segments signaling that he has something big in mind for the ‘face that runs the place’.
Since Vince McMahon is insisting so much on unleashing the Animal, it might just be a hint of the return for Batista. He can resurface around Royal Rumble and start a feud with AJ Styles to culminate a match at Wrestlemania 35. This match can certainly turn out to be a show-stellar at the biggest event of the year. Fans expect this match the least which is why this can create huge cheers amongst the audience.
Batista has reportedly signed a new contract with the WWE in late October. He wanted a send-off match against Triple H at Wrestlemania 35. The storyline angle has kicked off eyeing the same on Smackdown 1000. But Triple H tore injured his hand at WWE Crown Jewel making this match uncertain. So it looks like AJ Styles has become the backup opponent for Batista, for now.
