WWE has been dealing with a lot of TV rating problems, as of late. The absence of multiple big names is one of the reasons for the same. Roman Reigns is the franchise player of WWE Raw who is not present on the scene due to his battle with Leukemia. He will not be on the show either for perhaps the entire 2019. This already subtracted one huge reason for the fans to tune in for the show.

Furthermore, the lackluster plots and random booking are other things to blame for. The fiasco around the creative team became wide open with an episode of WWE Raw in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a few weeks ago. The show was so bad that the fans went on a rant, altogether. The decline in rating continued for the flagship show in weeks to come and creating a headache for the creative team.
The good thing is that WWE Raw has acknowledged the problem on TV. They have started encountering the problem by bringing back Vince McMahon on the show. This might be the beginning of a change in WWE programming as we go forward to 2019. Current reports are hinting the big changes are waiting for us as the New Year kick-starts.
Bryan Alvarez mentioned on Wrestling Observer Live that big plans are waiting in WWE programming. There will be some interesting storylines on the weekly shows to get fans tuning back on WWE Raw and Smackdown Live. This comes as a direct effort from WWE creative team to encounter the huge drop in TV ratings at the beginning of December. Here’s what the source has stated,
“For those of you who hate Raw, all I’m going to do is tell you that the belief within WWE is that — take this for what it’s worth — they believe it is all turning around in January. Apparently, they have some sort of idea and they think it’s all turning around in January and that the ratings in January are going to be good again. The show is going to be better and something big is going to happen.”
Fans might start hoping that some of the hottest free agents are heading to the WWE in 2019. Apparently, that might be the only way to bring some permanent change around WWE programming. But Alvarez advised not to raise our hopes high. Names like The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes are not willing to enter the WWE scene, at all,
“Of course, everybody is going to be speculating all sorts of crazy things. Young Bucks, this, that. Don’t get your hopes up, everybody.”
Recent reports from ringsidenews.com claimed that Cody Rhodes has declined a contract offer from WWE. He is the biggest name in the independent scene, right now. His inclusion to the scene could have brought a big change on either WWE Raw or Smackdown. But that is not happening, anytime soon. We will learn in due course about these big storylines referred by the source.
