The Rock is on a promotion spree for his new movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. For years now, he has been a regular Hollywood star and less of a WWE wrestler. Earlier, he was also declared as the biggest earning celebrity in the Hollywood, too. As a result, we did not see him appearing on the last edition of Wrestlemania. This was the first time that he did not perform on the show since returning in the WWE in 2011.
On the other hand, Hulk Hogan is out of the WWE ever since the racism scandal broke out in the year 2015. A video footage was leaked on the internet by Gawker media that forced WWE to cut all the ties with him at that point. Later, he was released of all the accusations and got restored in his Hall of Famer status in the company. However, a televised return in WWE is still pending for him.
Wow this was the match back in ‘84 when I caught this @HulkHogan headband he throws. I was 12yrs old at Madison Square Garden. I went back to the locker room after the match to give it back to him. Two weeks later he gave me a brand new one. Crazy story. ???? https://t.co/0UX0I68Wm4

At this time, these two have been indulged in an altercation on the social media hinting that they might feature in a match in the future. These two are the two former franchise players of the company and two of the most iconic wrestlers of all time. Previously, they locked horns at Wrestlemania 18 that was a ‘passing the torch’ match. Going by the Twitter war, they might intend to go against each other, again.
The Rock posted a tweet indicating that how great it was to go up against the Hulkster. Hogan was quick to address him stating that he can do it again and he is quite serious about the rematch.
Yo @TheRock, if you need another head band this time you need to give me my rematch then see if you can take it brother!! Lol. Only love but I’m serious about the rematch brother HH https://t.co/IDpN7h6uIb

Following this, another franchise player of the company, John Cena noted on the incident giving a positive take on the situation. In an interview with Fox News, he was asked about whether this match is possible, once again when he uttered the following,
“My thoughts are the age-old adage that is WWE. Never say never.”
None of these two are still officially retired from the squared circle leaving a possibility that the icon vs icon clash is still possible. It is now up to the WWE officials whether they are interested in using him in a wrestling capacity.
