WWE TLC delivered a number of championship matches on the card. One of those was from WWE Raw between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. These two former Shield brethren were fighting over the Intercontinental Championship. They have been in a rivalry ever since Dean Ambrose turned heel in last October.
Seth Rollins to replace Roman Reigns on WWE Raw
The feud was going so good that we thought their match would turn out to be a show stellar. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose delivered 5-star rated match in the past on several occasions in the past. This time around, the capacity was even more interesting. For the first time ever, Dean Ambrose was playing the negative character instead of Rollins.
Plus, natural bad blood has always been there between the two hinting WWE TLC will come up with another gem. In reality, it turned out to be a dud. After initial back and forth going, the pace of the match became slower and felt dragged for the last ten minutes. The fans in San Jose started chanting ‘this is boring’ to let know their minds.
This was not good for marquee superstars like Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. According to the reports of Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon was not happy either about this. He was reportedly furious about these two veteran superstars coming up with poor performances at WWE TLC.
WWE creative team arranged this match thinking that fans will love the setup. A heel Dean Ambrose against a babyface Seth Rollins is something that they have never seen before. But the reality turned out to be different as they could care less about this. Finally, the match ended with the Lunatic Fringe capturing the Intercontinental Championship for the third time in his career.
Here’s an update from wwfoldschool.com hinting why the fans might have not liked this WWE TLC contest,
“There are quite a few reasons that are being stated to understand why the fans were not interested in this match, like the show being too long (a total of 5 hours including the Kickoff Show which featured two matches), this match falling in the spot which previously used to be the “pi$$ break” (usually Divas matches were treated as pi$$ breaks before the main event) & more.”

Hopefully, this poor outing at WWE TLC will not cost Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will not cost them big-time in the future. They are likely to carry the feud forward until Rollins received his rematch for the IC title. Once he ends up losing this upcoming match, the main event spotlight will be waiting for him.
