Numerous speculations are going on around with the upcoming appearances of Chris Jericho.
Some of the fans might think that he still is associated with the WWE. But, that’s not the truth. At the Greatest Royal Rumble event, he made a one-off appearance. Till date, he has not signed any concrete deal with the company. Hence, we should not expect him to see on TV on a regular basis.
But, certain speculations are going on about his future in NJPW. In case you don’t know, early this year, he had a 5-star rated match against Kenny Omega at the Wrestle Kingdom 11 event at Tokyo Dome. It was his first appearance in any of the promotions outside the WWE. While finishing his stint, Chris Jericho teased to come back in future.
After being unable to defeat Omega, a heel Y2J attacked Los Ingobernables de Japon leader Tetsuya Naito teasing a potential rivalry in the future. It was at the NJPW: New Year’s Dash event at the Korakuen Hall where the veteran delivered a brutal assault on Naito.
We are almost confirmed to see this angle going into a full-fledged storyline, somewhere down the line.
Well, that might happen on this upcoming weekend since Chris Jericho is scheduled to appear in the eastern country, once again. PWInsier.com reported this time around that the six-time world champion is currently scheduled to appear in the Wrestling Dontaku event in Fukuoka, Japan. So, his return in NJPW, later this week might be a matter of time.
Needless to say, if he comes back, then a possible angle will be shot to kick-off the rivalry between him and Naito. The latter one has become the IWGP Intercontinental Champion, recently which will give Chris Jericho, the opportunity to go for a title at the Japanese wrestling promotion.
However, the veteran never accepted the news of working more with the NJPW. While talking with the ESPN, he stated the following confirming that things never go as per planning,
“Things change. That’s how it goes. Sometimes things seem like a good idea at the time, and then when you look at it a little bit deeper and a little bit further, you realize it’s not gonna go the way you want it to go.
However, we can ‘never say never’ in pro-wrestling world. With WWE not needing him, right now, he can’t expect a better opportunity to work with a promotion like NJPW.
